You put them on your legs arms waist and so on, how do they affect us.
The idea to do this project came to me from the idea of the medieval soldier were probably stronger than the ones to day physically, full body armor weighs about 40 pounds plus walking at least ten mile on a march to kill another kingdom probably further cavalry on horses could go further so that came to how far we going in a day if back then we could do that, So counting how many steps we take was the next step to me and the device that does that is a pedometer. My goal in this was to see if people are as active as we were in the medieval times the answer in no we are way less active than we were back then this is doe to the advances in technology
Technology has affected us in many ways the wagon took people from running and walking to get where we want to go to riding horses and sitting in wagons then to motor engine came around and that spawned off cars trucks planes trains submarines and boats we already had low tech submarines and boats but the engine is what we apply to it to make the ones you picture to day. then there is the computer and tv the two inventions that take out the most exercise in your day the average American spends 4-7 hours of their day watching tv and that does not include the late night searches online or the funny videos on your phone we laugh at animals who can't figure out the paper sack but we spend hours trying to figure out how to use to new Computer or looking at the screen. Plus then there is the mindless snacking that adds to reasons why people need to get out and move around and fell that wind in their hair.
The Amish, they do stuff the old fashion way and the average around walks 17000 steps a day I don't no how many steps they take in a mile but for me that is about two miles and I forgot the name of the study but says that the average human should be able to walk 10 miles a day, I have done that and I don’t want to do it again (p.s don’t miss your ride into town or your one back home especially on the same trip) but most people do not know how fit we should be or what the people of the past pushed themselves through on a daily basis.
Lets take the average person in medieval time when you first wake up there is feeding the animals or making breakfast probably some bread and soup then there is work here you come to some choices there is the farmer, blacksmith the soldier the merchants the store owners out of these to farmer and the soldier probably have the most steps to take in a day the soldiers had training and marching across the country side the farmer had feed all the animals and water them then till the field or weed it or harvest it the entire time both of them are working. these categories of people still exist today but they don't walk as far as farmers use machines and military they drive armored vehicles and shoot they don't charge in to battle they keep a distance there is no running up face to face with the enemy.
The technology that is used for pedometers is advancing they started as just a devise and your leg to now phones can get apps that to that for you now. Then there is the ones that monitor blood pressure and rate tell you how for you have gone and exactly where you are and they also can calculate the calories you lost but the methods for doing that are extremely inaccurate and push people to work a little to hard this is partially do to some of the variables are personable and not really calculable by a machine and your leg such as stress.
My thoughts on the pedometers is that they should help people lose weight because of the instant gratification from looking at the mount of steps they took throughout the day and seeing the “I did better today than yesterday if only by 6 steps or a hundred. The act of being aware of are actual exercise throughout the day allows us to put more effort subconsciously and consciously into our activities. the more we put in the more we get out in a sense. The stronger you are the more likely you are to get the job done.
My methods was that I would look up other people's studies and results then compile them into a paper all the papers I looked at to get my data are in my bibliography even the on to find out how much a suit of armor weight was. this process is not for people who don't find enjoyment in reading unless you have a lot of dedication to your projects and papers.

Rube Goldberg
Reflection
The project as a hole is a good embodiment of the project based learning. We over the course of the semester we as a class learned how to calculate out energy speed etc. we also learned a little bit about Rube Goldberg he was a comic righter he drew comics that caught on and where really popular. My project was to make cup of noodles but I had a few ideas and it turned out to be a rube that boiled water and cooked what ever you put in the hotpot. I personally fond the project a little bit crowded and dint like the constant disappearance of supplies.
